How long will I need to be in therapy?

This will vary depending on the presenting symptoms and circumstances. After the first two sessions I will be able to give you an idea on treatment prognosis and length of time in treatment. The style of therapy that I utilize requires homework. You will see results much sooner if you are willing to do the homework.

Do you prescribe medication? What are your beliefs regarding medication?

I do not prescribe medication. You will need to see a psychiatrist for medication. In your search you will be looking for someone with a M.D. Many people seek individual therapy to avoid being on medication. I will provide you with information to assist you in making an informed decision about medication. Many psychiatrists want their patients to attend therapy in conjunction with taking the medication. Often times you will see better results.

Do you accept insurance?

I do accept some insurance. It is your responsibility to call your insurance company ahead of the appointment to receive authorization and benefit information. You will be responsible for services not covered by your insurance. If you have a PPO you can see any provider you wish. If you have an HMO you will need to make sure that I am an in-network provider or the services will not be covered. When you call to make your first appointment you can ask me further questions about what insurance panels I am currently on.
